Bozüyük is a district of Bilecik province and one of the rare districts that is economically larger than some provinces in Türkiye. It became a district in 1926.
The highest elevations are mostly in the west and southwest of the district. In the west, on Yirce Mountain, the height of Üçtepeler is 1,790 metres.
Bozüyük has very cold, rainy winters and hot, dry summers.
From around the 1200s BC, after the Hittite period, the Phrygians, who came from the Balkans, appear to have dominated the region. A charter (menşur) granted to Osman Bey in 1289 states that Bozüyük came under Ottoman rule.
During the Ottoman period, Bozüyük was a main passage route and lodging point for armies. It lies in the area where the İnönü Battles, one of the turning points of the War of Independence, took place. The Bozüyük City Museum opened on 29 March 2017. For many years Bozüyük was a kariye (village-level settlement) within the Sultanönü sanjak.
