The district is estimated to have been founded as a settlement in the 2000s BC. During the period of the Karamanid Principality, it was a settlement attached to Ermenek, and Avshar Turkmens settled in the region. The former name of Dumlugöze village was Muzvadı, and its history is believed to exceed 700 years. Local culture reflects the different colours of Anatolian culture with its own customs, traditions and practices. Honey festivals were held every year in the district between 1991 and 2000.
