Following a law passed by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on 12 November 2012, which split Manisa’s central district in two, Şehzadeler became a district.

History and Culture

Manisa was conquered by Saruhan Bey in 1313 and became the seat of the Saruhanid principality. Between 1437 and 1595 Manisa was an important centre where Ottoman princes (şehzades) gained governing experience. Şehzadeler was established as a district when the provincial centre was divided in two.
