Söğütlü is a district of Sakarya Province. The district covers an area of 145 km². The history of Söğütlü goes back to the Akkadians in 2340 BC. The region then remained under the dominion of the Hittite, Phrygian, Lydian and Cimmerian civilisations.
History
The region passed to the Persian Empire in 546 BC and, after Alexander the Great defeated the Persians, came under the Macedonian Empire.
