Dernekpazarı is a district of Trabzon in the Black Sea Region. It is bordered by Hayrat to the east, Çaykara to the south, Köprübaşı to the west and Of to the north. The district covers an area of 89 km². The average elevation of the district centre above sea level is 200 metres.
It is not known exactly when Dernekpazarı was founded, but it is thought that the name Kondu derives from the name of a wealthy Greek. When Fatih Sultan Mehmet captured Trabzon and its surroundings in 1461, the region was incorporated into Ottoman territory. According to the 1486 survey, the settlement had 49 households and 1 widow. During the First World War, Dernekpazarı, together with Trabzon, was occupied by Russia. By a decision of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on 10 May 1990, Dernekpazarı became a district.
On 29 July 1929, heavy rains caused a landslide in Grand Mosque village. The Solaklı Stream was blocked and became an artificial dam. A similar flood occurred on 19 May 1959, but the damage was not as great as in 1929.
Dernekpazarı became a district in 1990. The Dernekpazarı subdistrict was abolished in 1948 when the district of Çaykara was established.
