History and Culture

Merkezefendi was created in the 2013 local government reorganisation from part of Denizli’s former central district. The district’s name is attributed to the 16th-century Sufi Merkez Efendi. On 4 February 1931, Atatürk was hosted for a night in this building when he came to Denizli. The building was registered as a monument by the Ministry of Culture in 1977. The current building of Servergazi Tomb was built in 1992.
